About this opportunity
Fostering removes animals from the stress of shelter life, often for a few days to a few weeks. Foster families help animals recover from illness or surgery, build confidence, or simply wait in a calmer environment.
What to expect
- Commitment: anywhere from a few days to several weeks per animal
- All supplies and vet care covered by the shelter
- You return the animal when they're adopted or when your foster period ends
- Prior pet experience preferred but not required
How to sign up
Apply as a foster volunteer through your nearest Humane Society affiliate. Some programs accept applications year-round; others open them seasonally.
