How to find and commit to a task
The task catalog is at /app/tasks. From there you can browse available tasks, filter them down, and commit to one you want to do.
How to filter the catalog
There are three ways to narrow the list:
- Location filter. Filters between remote tasks and in-person tasks. Most tasks are remote and can be done on a phone or computer. Field-based tasks (like visiting a store) are optional and clearly labeled.
- Category filter. Filters by task type, for example, food-price audit, government document review, EMS rate research, and others.
- Keyword search. Searches across the task title, short description, and sponsoring org name.
You can combine all three filters at the same time.
What each task card shows
Each card in the catalog shows the task title, the sponsoring organization, the category, the location type (remote or in-person), and, if applicable, when the task closes.
Before you commit
Click a card to go to the task detail page. There you'll find the full instructions, the estimated time, and the max hours cap for that task. Read the full instructions before committing, the hours cap is a ceiling, not the amount that will be credited. Only your real measured active time is credited while you work.
How to commit
- Go to /app/tasks and find a task you want to do.
- Click the card to open the task detail page.
- Read the full instructions and confirm you understand the requirements.
- Click the Commit button. This creates a record on the platform and redirects you to the project hub at /app/projects/[id], where the actual work happens.
After you commit
The task appears in the Projects section of your account at /app/projects. You can only have one active project per task at a time. If you want to do the same task again later, you'll commit to a new instance once you've completed the first.
